15yo held over knife murder of woman refugee centre worker

A 15-year-old asylum seeker has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a female employee at a refugee centre in Sweden. Alexandra Mezher was stabbed to death at a centre for youngsters aged between 14 and 17 in Molndal, near Gothenburg, on Monday. She was taken to Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, but died of her wounds. The 22-year-old had reportedly only been working at the centre for a few months.

We have cried a lot. She was such a nice person, warm and happy.

Police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg said there were signs of a violent fight at the home. Two people were holding down the male suspect when police arrived at the scene. He did not give any details about the suspect’s age or nationality. Swedish news agency TT reported he was aged 15. Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, who visited the centre, described the attack as a “tragedy”. "You should be able to feel safe at work,“ he said, according to the Gothenburg Post.

We’re dealing with more incidents like these since the arrival of so many more refugees from abroad.
