Thirty people died in a collision between three minibuses on Monday in Egypt’s southern Aswan province, medical and security sources said. Another 15 people were injured in the crash near Edfu, some 930 kilometres south of Cairo. The accident is thought to have been caused by speeding. Traffic accidents are common in Egypt where roads are often poorly maintained and traffic regulations little enforced.
Last year there were more than 15,000 road accidents in Egypt.
