Ahead of Super Bowl, Seahawks’ media-shy running back has a new line

Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch is not fond of attention. But he was getting far less of it before he decided to stop talking to the media. Unfortunately, the running back is contractually required by the NFL to speak to the media and has previously been fined $100,000 for not attending interviews. His strategy: be available, but give the same answer to every question. It started with “yeah”, which evolved into “I’m just ‘bout that action, Boss”. Lynch unveiled this year’s standard response at a Super Bowl Media Day on Tuesday.

I’m here so I won’t get fined.

The answer Marshawn Lynch gave 29 times in response to 29 questions

The NFL reportedly threatened to fine him said $500,000 if he didn’t show up. There were cameras and recorders everywhere to document this – many lined up 20 minutes before he arrived. After four minutes and 51 seconds, he said, “time” and got up and left. Presumably he’d made himself sufficiently available to the media to avoid said fine.
