World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will defend his belts in a rematch against Wladimir Klitschko in Manchester on July 9. The rematch was announced by Fury’s trainer and uncle, Peter, via Twitter on Friday. It is thought likely to take place at Old Trafford, Manchester, giving the defending champion a home advantage. If he wins it could lead to an British winner-takes-all clash with Anthony Joshua. The fight will take place on the same weekend as the Wimbledon singles finals, the British Grand Prix and the Euro 2016 final.

The pair met in November last year, when Fury unexpectedly claimed he WBA Super, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles. He was stripped of the IBF belt just 10 days later because Fury was unable to take on the IBF’s mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov. Klitschko demanded his rematch shortly after the initial event in Dusseldorf last year. The IBF title is at stake on Saturday, when British Olympic gold medallist Joshua fights defending champion Charles Martin at the O2 Arena in London.
