Brazil to play high-profile friendly in Nigeria

Barcelona star Neymar is set to be part of a Brazilian side that will take on Nigeria next year at the newly-built Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo on March 29. The last time Nigeria played Brazil in their own country was back in 2003, when the South American side won 3-0 in Abuja. The news of next March’s fixture was confirmed by Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio at the opening of the Akwa Ibom Stadium on Friday night.

I have been directed by the NFF to tell you that Brazil will field the full complement of its stars for the match, including Barcelona star Neymar.

Nigerian Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick said at the stadium opening that Ukraine and Serbia were also being considered for friendlies next year. The new 30,000-seat stadium will be used for reigning champions Nigeria’s final 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against South Africa on Wednesday.
