Christian Bale turns down titular role for Steve Jobs biopic

Christian Bale will not be Steve Jobs after all. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Dark Knight” actor has turned down the Jobs biopic, which is being worked on by “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle. The report, citing a source, says Bale came to the conclusion that he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw.

The studio and Bale were only in talks and never completed negotiations.

The script is said to be divided into three acts that detail Jobs preparing for three presentations that came to define his life and the life of the company he co-founded, lost and came back to. Bale is the second high-profile actor to receive an offer for the Jobs role but eventually pass. Leonardo DiCaprio also was in line to play the late tech icon, but opted to take a break from filming, according to people familiar with the matter last month.
