Clint Eastwood reveals his next movie will be based on ‘Miracle on the Hudson’

Clint Eastwood is to make a film about the pilot who famously landed a plane in the Hudson River in New York in 2009. Warner Bros announced on Tuesday that Eastwood would direct and produce the not-yet-titled drama.  The movie will be adapted from Highest Duty, the memoir of the pilot, Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger. He steered the U.S. Airways flight to an emergency splash landing after goose strikes caused both the Airbus’ engines to fail.

I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood.

Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger

Captain Sullenberger was hailed as a national hero after his quick thinking saved all 155 lives on board. The ditching came to be known as the Miracle on the Hudson. The movie will be Eastwood’s first after the Oscar-winning American Sniper, which was the biggest box-office hit of his career. That film grossed more than half a billion dollars worldwide for Warner Bros, becoming the most successful ever war movie.
