P Diddy has escaped assault charges, police have confirmed - two weeks after he allegedly wielded a kettlebell during a confrontation at a college campus. The rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs but who has now changed his name back to his old moniker Puff Daddy, has been told the case will not be pursued by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. However, the 45-year-old may yet face a misdemeanor charge after the case was referred to the city attorney’s office. Combs’ attorney Mark Geragos said: “We are thankful that the district attorney rejected felony charges in this matter.”
This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with.

Combs was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making terrorist threats. He was visiting a University of California Los Angeles campus, where his son Justin plays football, when he rowed with a coach on 20 June. At the time, a spokeswoman for Combs Enterprises said the hip-hop mogul was defending himself and his son. Nobody was seriously injured. “We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed,” she had added.
Any actions taken by Mr Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son
