Don’t forget to flush: DNA from toilet leads police to burglary suspect

Police in Albuquerque, New Mexico, said a man suspected of a $250,000 jewelry heist should have flushed the evidence he left behind to avoid getting caught. Ramon Herrera, 33, apparently took a can of Coke from the fridge of the home he was robbing, drank it and left it along with his DNA. After that nature called and Herrera used the toilet but didn’t flush. Investigators say DNA from the can and toilet was matched to Herrera, who was recently arrested and booked into the Bernalillo County jail.
