George Clooney: Freeze while I apologise for being Batman - and those nipples

George Clooney has apologised to fans for his widely panned Batman movie during a surprise appearance at New York Comic-Con. Fresh from his lavish wedding in Venice, the Hollywood star walked on stage during a panel discussion for his upcoming film, the Disney fantasy film Tomorrowland and told fans: “Since I did Batman, I’ve been de-invited from Comic-Con. I met Adam West and apologised”, referring to the actor who played the caped crusader in the 1960s TV series.

It’s not lost on me that I’m spending my honeymoon at Comic-Con.

The 1997 Batman & Robin movie - in which Clooney played Batman and Chris O’Donnell starred as his sidekick - was poorly received and Clooney has expressed regret at taking part in the project in the past. On Thursday he did not hold back. “Sorry about the nipples on the suit,” he went on. “‘Freeze, Freeze!’ - I apologise for that,” he added, in reference to a line in the movie directed at Arnold Schwarzenegger’s villain Mr Freeze. Clooney married British lawyer Amal Alamuddin at a star-studded wedding in Venice last month and joked this was the last place he should be spending his honeymoon.
