Granny Ripper accused of gruesome murders ‘may have eaten victims’

A pensioner who allegedly murdered a string of people over the course of 20 years may have eaten her victims. Tamara Samsonova is accused of brutally murdering 79-year-old Valentina Ulanova by drugging her and hacking her into pieces. But police believe her victim count could be as high as 14 - and she may have turned cannibal by eating some of the bodies. The 68-year-old is thought to have dismembered her victims before gouging out their insides and feasting on them.

I killed my tenant Volodya, cut him to pieces in the bathroom with a knife, put the pieces of his body in plastic bags and threw them away.

An entry in Tamara Samsonov’s diary

Samsanova’s alleged crimes came to light after she was spotted on CCTV carrying Ulanova’s body parts in a black plastic bag. Ulanova’s decapitated corpse was later found by police in a nearby pond. Police believe Samsanova’s victim was cut up while she was still alive after the pair rowed about dirty tea cups. A later search of her flat in St Petersburg, Russia, revealed a series of diaries detailing her years of murders, as well as blood smears in the bathroom. According to police, one of Samsanova’s victims was her husband, who vanished in 2005.
