Hanks for your help! Oscar-winner Tom’s tweet reunites student with lost ID card

Tom Hanks’ efforts to reunite a university student with her lost ID card have paid off. The Hollywood star sparked a social media frenzy when he tweeted: "Lauren! I found your Student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get to you. Hanx.“ Now, the student at the centre of the mystery, Lauren Whitmore, a senior at Fordham University in New York City, has been located. Miss Whitmore, who does not have a Twitter account, said says if the Oscar-winner wanted to return it she’d "surely meet him to do that”.

The Forrest Gump star posted the message along with a photo of the young woman’s identity card, although he covered her surname. By Tuesday evening the post had been retweeted thousands of times and favourited more than 10,000 times. Miss Whitmore said she must have lost the card while she was jogging in Central Park. She only found out about the fuss when one of her professors sent her a link to Twitter and said: “You’re famous." Hanks, 59, was on the receiving end of a similar act of kindness not long ago. He tweeted in March: "A guy named Tony found my credit card on the street in NYC and returned it! Tony! You make this city even greater! Thanx. HANX.”
