He’s a Marvel! Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange visits comic book store

Benedict Cumberbatch surprised staff and customers at a New York comic store when he stopped by for a chat in his full Doctor Strange costume. The British actor is shooting scenes for the film in Manhattan but took time out to show up unannounced at JHU Comic Books on 32nd Street. The star was wearing his blue outfit with a red cape and even had make-up on his face showing bloody cuts.

He said he came specifically to see us since it would be ridiculous not to visit a comic book store because he was filming nearby.

Video showed Cumberbatch shaking hands with staff and posing for photos, with many of the film’s crew in tow. The Marvel character is a brilliant but arrogant surgeon who gets a new lease of life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against evil.
