Hungary readies troops to halt migrants after Denmark pulls up the drawbridge

Hungary’s army has begun preparing to guard the country’s southern border to try to stem a new influx of migrants. The soldiers will be sent to help police at the border where thousands of people arrive from Serbia every day. Another 40,000 more migrants are expected to arrive by next week even as Hungary finishes work on a new razor-wire barrier along the frontier. Meanwhile, a group of 2,500 migrants boarded a ferry hired by the Greek government early on Thursday morning to take them from the island of Lesbos to the mainland.

It’s 160,000 refugees in total that Europeans have to take into their arms and I really hope that this time everyone will be on board,

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker

Danish police have closed a motorway and rail links with Germany in a bid to stem the flow of refugees heading north to Sweden, as Europe’s crisis spreads northward. Two trains carrying more than 200 migrants were being held in Rodby, a port with ferry links to Germany. Many migrants refused to leave the trains because they did not want to be registered in Denmark. Police also closed part of the E45 motorway - the main road link between Germany and Denmark - after about 300 migrants left another train and set off on foot towards Sweden near the border town of Padborg. Many of the migrants say they want to go to Sweden, Norway or Finland, because they believe that the conditions for asylum-seekers are better.

We know that many of them want to go to Sweden, but naturally we cannot let that happen.
