It came from the deep: Bizarre creature with fur and beak washes up on beach

A mysterious sea creature found washed up on a beach that has a bird-like beak and fur on its tail has got the scientific community baffled. The unidentified animal was discovered dead on the shore of Sakhalin Island - situated along the far east of Russia.It had been ripped apart with its bones showing and has similarities to a dolphin - yet it is estimated to be twice the size of a human being. So far, no expert has been able to determine exactly what the animal is, although one “confidently” described it as “some kind of dolphin”.

I can confidently say that this is some kind of a dolphin.

Nikolay Kim, deputy head of the Forecasting Department at the Sakhalin Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography, said some aspects of the giant creature has him confused. He added: “It has fur. It’s unusual.“ One commenter on Russian social media reckons the animal is a dolphin that simply adapts to their weather. He joked: “Probably, our summer is so cold that even the Indian Dolphins getting into local waters, are covered with fur.”

It looks like some mutant sea monster with a beak.
