Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz has rejected as “garbage” rumours he had adulterous affairs. The married Texas senator was responding to a report by the National Enquirer that claimed he has had five extramarital trysts. “I want to be crystal clear: these attacks are garbage,” Mr Cruz, 45, said in a Facebook post. He accused Donald Trump, his main rival for the Republican White House nomination, of spreading the claims by enlisting “his friends” at the supermarket tabloid.
These smears are completely false, they’re offensive to Heidi and me, they’re offensive to our daughters.
Ted Cruz
Asked whether he would still support Mr Trump, the current front-runner, if he won the Republican nomination, Mr Cruz did not answer directly. But the Texas senator said: “I’m not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and my family.” Trump insisted the story had nothing to do with him. “I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it,” he said. The latest spat came as voters in Hawaii, Alaska and Washington state go to the polls in the Democratic nomination race with Bernie Sanders hoping to close the 300-delegate gap on rival Hillary Clinton.
Of course the National Enquirer story is 100% FALSE!!! I only speak to myself, however. Carry on…
