The CIA’s most lethal former operative has been drawn out of the shadows in the first full trailer for the new Jason Bourne film. Matt Damon has returned to the franchise, alongside British director Paul Greengrass, for the first time in nine years. The trailer sees Bourne engage in a bare knuckle fight in the desert and huge car chase through Las Vegas. Jason Bourne is Damon and Greengrass’ fourth collaboration and is the sequel to the 2007 film The Bourne Ultimatum. Damon chose not to return in 2012 when Jeremy Renner played the title role in The Bourne Legacy.
It has taken us a long time to come back because we didn’t have the right story before. The world needed to change and then there comes that moment when it makes sense. You know when it feels right and that’s when you do it, not before.

A 30 second clip for the film was shown during the Super Bowl in February but this is the first time fans have been given more of an idea about the plot. The film sees the return of Julia Stiles and also stars Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel and Riz Ahmed. In one scene Bourne says: “I know who I am. I remember. I remember everything" But he is told by Stiles’ character, Nicky Parsons: "Remembering everything doesn’t mean you know everything." "Tell me,” he answers. "Jason Bourne isn’t a super hero; he doesn’t wear a cape or a mask. He’s not one of those kinds of guys. He is just an ordinary man,“ said Greengrass.
I think when people watch Jason Bourne they can imagine how they might react in those situations and those circumstances, and when you see him thinking his way through and coming up with a plan and executing his plan, that’s incredibly exciting.
