Kylie and fiance postpone their wedding until Australia allows same-sex marriage

Kylie Minogue and her fiance have vowed to put off their wedding until same-sex marriage becomes legal in Australia. The 48-year-old star announced her engagement to British actor Joshua Sasse, 28, in February. But he has revealed that the pair have decided to put off their nuptials until same-sex couples in Australia have the same rights as they do in Britain. “When I found out that gay marriage was illegal in Australia, I was astounded,” he said.

I simply can’t fathom on any level, whether it’s moral or religious or anything, that I have the right to get married and to marry the person that I love and that somebody else doesn’t because of their sexual orientation

Minogue, a long-time darling of the gay scene, and her fiancee have been vocal supporters of the Say I Do Down Under gay marriage campaign. The couple, who met on the set of his TV series Galavant, hope to tie the knot in Minogue’s hometown of Melbourne. But Sasse said: “We will not get married until this law has passed in Australia.” The Australian government is to hold a referendum on the issue in February 2017.

He’s so adamant to fight for gay rights in Australia and it’s coming from the most genuine place. He just can’t fathom that same-sex marriage hasn’t been legalised and of course I back him up on that.
