Lady Gaga to headline Coachella in place of Beyonce

Lady Gaga will replace Beyonce at the Coachella festival, after the pregnant singer pulled out on doctors’ advice. Gaga tweeted an updated line-up poster on Wednesday with the caption “Let’s party in the desert”, showing her name as the main headliner on two consecutive Saturdays. The announcement comes after Queen Bey was forced to cancel her performance at the California festival. The Formation star, 35, and her husband, Jay Z, revealed in January they were expecting twins.

We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes.

Lady Gaga, who won praise for her recent Super Bowl half-time show performance, will join the ranks of Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Bon Iver, Justice, The xx, Devendra Banhart and Father John Misty at this year’s event. The Poker Face singer will become the festival’s first female headliner in 10 years. Beyonce has been booked for the 2018 line-up for Coachella.
