London Fashion Week kicks off 5-day whirlwind of shows

With New York shows wrapped, fashionistas descend on the British capital for the next leg of spring/summer 2016 collections. London kicked off five days of catwalk shows and presentations on Friday, with a new car park venue adding an urban twist to the glitz and glamour of fashion week. This season, they head to the Brewer Street Car Park, a white and green art deco building, to see designers’ latest offerings.

We are excited to be in Soho because it’s thought of as the creative village of the West End.

The car park is an unremarkable building that has been transformed for a week into a catwalk space and a glamorous showroom for clothes, bags and shoes. It’s a far cry from the event’s old headquarters, the stately, elegant Somerset House on the banks of the Thames. But the car park is smack in the heart of bustling Soho, right in the middle of the capital’s densest concentration of shopping streets, theaters and gay bars. It’s gritty, brash — and very much London.
