Man rescued after being trapped in washing machine for THREE hours

Cats trapped up trees, dogs with their heads caught in railings, a man stuck inside a washing machine… all in a day’s work for firefighters. The 22-year-old Sydney man, who is mildly autistic, had got his legs trapped in the machine all the way up to his waist and had been stuck there for three hours before the fire crew arrived. The entire washing machine had to be taken apart to get him out. “The crew had not performed a washing machine rescue before,” a post on the Australian brigade’s Facebook page reads.

Once the exterior of the washing machine had been removed firefighters had to cut away the stainless steel drum to remove the patient from the washing drum.

Power tools were used to take the machine apart. “The washing machine had to be disassembled systematically and stabilisation was placed under the washing drum as the outer mounts of the washing machine were removed” said the fire crew on their Facebook page. The unnamed man is reported to have been “in a lot of discomfort” but escaped without injury.
