Mr and Mrs Clooney appear in public for first time after Venice wedding

George Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin have appeared in public for the first time since they married in Venice yesterday. The Hollywood star and the British-Lebanese lawyer, both in sunglasses, waved to well-wishers as they left the luxury hotel where they tied the knot, and then travelled by boat to their next destination. Clooney donned a grey suit and dark tie while she wore a white lace dress with floral appliqué.

Everybody’s been talking about it, everywhere we went today it was just ‘Clooney, Clooney, Clooney’.

A flotilla of photographers and cameramen followed their water taxi as it made its way towards another hotel, where Clooney has been based during his stay in the Italian city. The wedding was originally thought to have been taking place on Monday and there is speculation they will have a civil ceremony then. The actor had made a dramatic entrance for the wedding on Saturday evening at the Aman Canal Grande hotel, housed in the 16th century Palazzo Papadopoli, on the city’s Grand Canal.
