Mug shot of the year: Suspected Denver bank robber displays toothy grin

He had just been arrested for allegedly robbing a Colorado bank. But this suspected felon still managed to pose for what is possibly the happiest mug shot of all time. The photo was taken after 45-year-old Michael Whitington’s Sept. 23 arrest. Police say he robbed a bank on Denver’s 16th Street pedestrian mall and then tried to get away on a light-rail train. Officers stopped the train a few blocks away and arrested him. He has been charged with one count of robbery and is being held in jail. Court records don’t list an attorney. He was due to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday.
