One Direction confirm second movie, ‘Where We Are,’ for October release

With over 105 million combined Twitter followers and having made US$67 million at the box office with their first foray into film, it was only a matter of time before One Direction came back for more. Now, to the relief of Directioners, and after countless column inches of speculation, they’ve finally announced the release of “Where We Are,” the sequel to “This Is Us.” According to a statement from Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan, the second installment will be released across one weekend on Oct. 11 and 12. And for the first time ever, it’ll feature an exclusive look at one of One Direction’s shows.

This global and exclusive celebration is a chance for many to watch the tour for the first time, or to relive the spectacle with friends and get closer than ever before in true high definition and 5.1 surround sound.

One Direction statement

To celebrate the weekend release, there’ll be more than 10,000 screenings over 50 countries on over 3,000 screens globally, apparently making it “the biggest global ‘event cinema’ release ever.” This will be the first time fans have seen One Direction tour footage—which was filmed at the San Siro stadium in Milan—in full. The boys’ official label statement reads: “Currently in the midst of the epic 69-date ‘Where We Are’ global tour, ‘One Direction: Where We Are—The Concert Film’ will give fans the opportunity to join the world’s biggest band on stage for the One Direction concert experience.”
