Outback outlaws: Father and son snared by police after 8 years on the run

Father-and-son Outback outlaws Gino and Mark Stocco have finally been caught by police after spending eight years on the run. The desperate duo - wanted in connection with a raft of crimes - were captured on a remote farm near Dunedoo, New South Wales. Police tweeted a picture of them handcuffed on the ground. Officers later confirmed the body of a man had been recovered - believed to be that of the 68-year-old owner of the property, at Elong Elong, where the Stoccos had been hiding out.

I’m Gino’s father but I can’t say anything. You don’t know how long I haven’t seen him for.

A cause of death of the home owner has yet to be established although police say there are signs it was a violent end. Heavily-armed officers raided the property early on Wednesday but no shots were fired during the operation. Australia’s most wanted father and son, described by police as modern-day bushrangers, were wanted on a number of arrest warrants for violent crimes across Queensland, NSW and Victoria. The man hunt for the pair, aged 58 and 35, who had been on the run for eight years, intensified on October 16 when they allegedly fired shots at two police cars in Wagga Wagga.

You’ve gone past the point of no return. It’s time to stop. Give yourself up and let us deal with what it is you’ve done.
