Outrage as girls aged just five and two raped in separate attacks in Delhi

Girls aged just two and five have been raped in separate attacks in the Indian capital Delhi. The two-year-old was playing outside her home when she was kidnapped by two men on a motorbike in a western suburb on Friday. Her family found the child lying unconscious and bleeding in a park three hours later. The older girl was taken from her home and raped in the east of the city and three men are being questioned. The incidents have led to calls for more to be done to protect children and comes days after protests over an attack on a four-year-old girl, who was raped and slashed with a blade before being abandoned by a railway track in the city.

Repeated rape of minors is shameful and worrying. Delhi police has completely failed to provide safety.

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s chief minister

Both girls sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack with the five-year-old girl suffering bite marks to her body. They are recovering in hospital. The attacks add to a grim catalogue of sexual assaults in India, many of which have sparked domestic and international outrage. The fatal gang rape of a young student on a bus in Delhi in 2012 led to an outpouring of anger over frightening levels of violence against women.

When will Delhi wake up? Till when will girls continue to be brutalized in the Indian capital. Gangrape of 2.5 year n 5 year old. Shameful.
