Thousands across the globe have rallied for the People’s Climate March today. Speaking at a rally attended by several thousand in Melbourne, Greens leader Christine Milne said small Pacific states were already suffering from the effects of a warming planet and rising sea levels. In London, actress Emma Thompson, designer Vivienne Westwood and singer Peter Gabriel were among the 10,000 who marched to Westminster. More than 2,500 marches where planned around the globe on Sunday, ahead of a UN summit on climate change in New York this week.
Every single person on this earth has the power to change the world. And when we all come together, our power becomes irresistible.

Organisers are hoping a record 100,000 marchers will turn up to the march in New York, which begins at 11.30 am. Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ban Ki-moon and New York mayor Bill de Blasio are expected to attend the march. The Manhattan protest comes two days before the United Nations Climate Summit. More than 120 world leaders will convene Tuesday for the meeting aimed at galvanizing political will for a new global climate treaty by the end of 2015.
