Police finally catch up with fugitive who taunted them with a better mugshot

A fugitive who sent police a selfie because he disliked the mugshot they were using has been arrested. Donald “Chip” Pugh, who even went on radio to complain his grinning mugshot made him look like a Thundercat, was detained in Century, Florida. “Got him! Chip ‘The Selfie guy’ Pugh has been arrested,” tweeted police in Lima, Ohio. The department posted on its Facebook page a new mugshot of a still grinning Pugh after his arrest in Florida.

They put a picture out that made me look like I was a Thundercat … or James Brown on the run. I can’t do that.

The 'Thundercat’ photo was posted by police in Ohio as Pugh was wanted for failing to appear in court and was said to be a person of interest in several other cases. But the 45-year-old sent in another picture of himself in a sport coat and sunglasses along with a message stating: “Here is a better photo that one is terrible.” He also carried out an interview with Ohio radio station The Eagle, in which he claimed police “just did me wrong”. Pugh, whose previous run-ins with the law included charges of disorderly conduct, breaking and entering, and domestic violence, taunted police with messages about his whereabouts. His stunts provoked plenty of amusement online, including a Free Chip Pugh Facebook page.

This photo was sent to us by Mr. Pugh himself. We thank him for being helpful, but now we would appreciate it if he would come speak to us at the LPD about his charges.
