Protest marks disappearance of Mexican students

A protest marking three months since 43 college students were abducted in southern Mexico has resulted in damages to a perimeter wall at an army base in the city of Iguala. Hundreds of protesters marched to the army base Friday to commemorate the disappearance of the students on Sept. 26. Some spray-painted graffiti on the base’s wall, and others tore down part of a metal gate at the entrance. Iguala municipal police allegedly detained the students following a clash that left six people dead. Authorities say the police turned the students over to members of a drug gang who killed them and burned their bodies. Parents of the missing students and their supporters have questioned why the army did nothing to stop the abductions which occurred near the local base.
