Red-faced: Cameron ridiculed for Photoshopped poppy blunder

David Cameron has been ridiculed across social media after a fake poppy was spotted having been added to his official Facebook page image. In what has been dubbed “Poppygate”, the prime minister’s office was forced to delete the picture following an outcry. Eagle-eyed Twitter user Dylan Morris questioned whether No.10 had photoshopped a poppy on to an old image of Mr Cameron for a Facebook update. The profile picture is identical to one uploaded several years ago with one addition - a red commemorative flower on the Prime Minister’s chest.

Is Photoshopping an unrealistic looking poppy onto a profile pic really respecting the country’s fallen?

Another Facebook user, Matt Davies, added: “You’d think you had at least one servant that could use Photoshop properly.” Danny Burchell chipped in: “Would’ve been quicker to just take a new pic instead of Photoshopping a poppy.” Mr Morris said he didn’t care whether Mr Cameron wore a poppy or not but objected to the poor job on superimposing the poppy on to the older image. Many questioned what sort of reaction there would have been if Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had been ‘caught’ doing something similar.

It was an oversight by a member of the team and a new picture has been put up.
