Renée Zellweger ‘glad’ about talk of her appearance

Renée Zellweger knows that the Internet was abuzz over her appearance on Tuesday. And guess what, World Wide Web? She finds it all “silly.” The Katy, Texas, native, who picked up an Oscar for 2004’s “Cold Mountain,” says that her new look is due to her new life. Her last movie to hit the big screen was 2010’s “My Own Love Song.” A year later, she and boyfriend Bradley Cooper broke up and she largely dropped out of sight. But she’s been enjoying life and love, dating guitarist and producer Doyle Bramhall II since 2012.

I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.

As celebrities age, their changing appearances are photographed and picked apart daily. Just like Zellweger, actress Courteney Cox has received similar treatment for her reported overuse of Botox and fillers, and Jennifer Grey first came under fire when she had a rhinoplasty and again in 2013, when she apparently went under the knife again. Famous men, including Bruce Jenner and Mickey Rourke, are treated similarly. One body image expert says criticisms of celebrities show a societal problem in that it “seems to demand a forever-young appearance by way of zero effort and freakish genetics.”
