Ryan Gosling finally eats his cereal in tribute to late Vine star

Ryan Gosling has recorded a video tribute to Ryan McHenry who found fame online for posting videos of the star looking like he was refusing to eat cereal. In his own clip, the Hollywood actor is shown pouring cornflakes into a bowl, adding milk and then raising his spoon before he tucks in. Since 2013 McHenry, who died aged 27 at the weekend, had used his Vine videos of the celebrity to highlight his own struggle with cancer. Hundreds of thousands of people have watched dozens of his clips.

It’s the most fitting send-off any of his friends or family could have hoped for. It was something he had always talked about.

Gosling had no involvement in the series but when he heard McHenry had lost his battle with osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer), the actor paid tribute with a Vine. Gosling also said on Twitter his “heart goes out” to his family and friends, adding: “Feel very lucky to have been a part of his life in some small way.” McHenry, from Glasgow, got the idea while eating cereal and watching Gosling in the hit film Drive. And he realised that by holding his spoon in front of the screen he could make it appear that the US star was refusing to eat.

They are just vines to make people laugh but to have Ryan Gosling respond just shows the effect that Ryan McHenry had on the world.
