Stressed-out Sepp Blatter in hospital after ‘small emotional breakdown’

Sepp Blatter has been admitted to hospital, claiming his body is “letting him down”. The suspended Fifa chief was said to have suffered what has been called “a nervous shock”  and a “small emotional breakdown” but is expected to make a full recovery. The 79-year-old, who is facing criminal proceedings over corruption allegations, reportedly wanted to remain at home but doctors in Switzerland decided he needed to be examined.

Mr Blatter is suspected of “criminal mismanagement or misappropriation” over allegations relating to suspicion over a “disloyal payment” of 2 miliion Swiss francs (£1.3 million) to Uefa president Michel Platini. Both deny any wrongdoing but the opening of the Swiss investigation has piled pressure on Mr Blatter. Seven candidates will stand to succeed him in Fifa’s presidential election on 26 February.

He is now, at this moment in hospital. He is preparing to leave on Monday and will be back on the job on Tuesday.
