Tail tail: Lightning strikes World Trade Center during violent thunderstorm

Residents of New York were treated to a spectacular light show when lightning struck the top of One World Trade Center during a thunderstorm. Dramatic footage of the electrical strike on America’s tallest building was captured by Anthony Quintano. Torrential rain which caused flash flooding, led to the closure of some roads and power cuts. The storm also caused flight delays into Newark Liberty International, Kennedy International and La Guardia Airports. One World Trade Center, which stands at 1,776ft in a nod to the year the US gained independence, dominates the New York City skyline.
