Taiwan, Japan and Philippines on high alert as trio of storms bring heavy rainfall

Typhoon Falcon (internationally known as Chan-Hom) continues to enhance the southwest moonsoon bringing heavy rainfall in Luzon. According to the latest weather bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) PAGASA, Falcon has maintained its strength as it continues to move in a west northwest direction. The location of the eye of typhoon Falcon was located at 1,250 km East of Calayan, Cagayan (19.6°N, 133.4°E).

Because Falcon was enhancing the southwest monsoon, Mindoro, Palawan, Zambales, and Bataan can expect rain on Wednesday, which may trigger flash floods and landslides.

Philippines weather service PAGASA warned on Tuesday.

The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It is expected to move on a west northwest direction at 20 kph. A second typhoon, Typhoon Nangka, is continuing to strengthen as it heads towards the island of Guma, with winds of up to 260km/h. A third storm – Tropical Storm Linfa - is lurking to the west and slowly drifting northwards. Residents of China, Taiwan and Japan are also on high alert as the huge storm band bears down.
