A cat in Florida is on the mend after clawing his way back from the dead, surfacing five days after he was hit by a car and buried for dead. Bart is recovering from a broken jaw and facial injuries but one of his eyes was damaged so badly it had to be removed. Bart’s lifeless body was buried after he was hit by a car earlier this month but five days later, he showed up alive in a neighbour’s yard.
He had dug himself out of the grave and slowly made his way back home, albeit weak, dehydrated and in need of medical attention.

The cat’s owner, Ellis Hutson, 52, said he found Bart two weeks ago in the middle of the road, lifeless in a pool of blood. Hutson said he asked his friend to help bury the 23-month old cat. Then Bart came back five days later. “I open the door and my neighbor’s standing there with the cat in her hand,” Hutson said. “She said, ‘Bart is not dead.’ I said, ‘That’s impossible. We buried him.’
I saw him with my own eyes. I know he was dead. He was cold and stiff. Now my kids believe their cat will also rise from the dead. But I told them I don’t think so.
