The long-rumored third Ghostbusters movie is finally happening. Paul Feig, creator of Freaks and Geeks and director of The Heat and Bridesmaids, says he’s working on the film, which will be a reboot of the franchise. Feig said on Twitter today that the new Ghostbusters was officially in the works, confirming earlier reports of his involvement. He will co-write with Kate Dippold, who wrote the screenplay for The Heat and has written for television shows Parks and Recreation and Mad TV. Talk of a third Ghostbusters film has been happening for decades, and star Dan Aykroyd wrote a script that featured the characters from the first two films training a new, younger generation of Ghostbusters. Original Ghostbuster Harold Ramis, who co-wrote the first film with Aykroyd, died earlier this year.
