This will stay with him: Sam Smith wins four awards at the Grammys

Sam Smith stole the show at this year’s Grammys, as the British singer won four awards including song and record of the year. The British singer’s wins eclipsed global superstars Beyonce and Pharrell Williams, who each walked away with three gongs. The 22-year-old was also named best new artist, and won best pop vocal album for In The Lonely Hour. Smith was rewarded after being the only solo artist to sell more than a million albums in the UK in 2014.

Before I made this record, I was doing everything to try and get my music heard.

Other British winners included Clean Bandit with Jess Glynne and Aphex Twin. Madonna, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Kanye West and Sir Paul McCartney were among those who perfromed at the Los Angeles ceremony.
