Thousands of One Directioners answer band’s call to take on world peace

One Direction have asked their millions of fans to tell world leaders what they want to see changed to make the world a better place. The British boyband have premiered a film called Dear World Leaders for action/1D, which is a montage of hundreds of their fans describing a world they want to live in. The group wants the three-minute video to be shared on social media and it will be broadcast at their remaining On The Road Again tour concerts. Harry Styles said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the fans’ response to action/1D. They continue to amaze us with their passion and dedication, and this film goes to show how engaged they are in the issues that affect them.”

Hillary Clinton tweeted us her support of action/1D last month - I’m hoping President Obama watches it next!

In the video, fans from across the globe address presidents and prime ministers. "I want to live in a world where people get some education,“ one says. Another says she wants a world which respects rights "such as women’s rights, or gay rights or last slice of pizza rights”. The action/1D campaign is part of action/2015, a global citizens’ movement which wants 2015 to be the year when the world can set the agenda to end extreme poverty, tackle inequality and climate change.

It’s been inspiring to see and hear what matters to them and the world they want to live in.
