Three British tourists were killed while climbing waterfalls in Vietnam and their guide has been arrested for taking them on an unauthorised tour. The bodies of one man and two women, aged 19 and 25, have been recovered downstream of the Datanla waterfalls, a popular tourist spot in the central Lam Dong province. Their guide was detained on suspicion of taking the group on the tour without having paid for tickets to enter the attraction nor using the approved safety gear.

Foreign Office statement
Their cause of death has not been confirmed but the group are thought to have slipped and fallen while exploring the area. The two women were reported to have come to Vietnam at the start of the month. Vo Anh Tan, deputy director of the Lam Dong joint stock tourist company which manages the Datanla waterfalls, said tourists usually start at the top of the tiered falls and work their way down. However, the group did not pay for entrance tickets and were not using the company’s safety gear, he added. The Foreign Office has said it is aware of the reports and was investigating.
