To catch a thief… take one bunch of bananas and let nature do the rest

A thief was force-fed more than 40 bananas by police in India to recover a stolen necklace he had swallowed. The 25-year-old man had denied snatching the gold chain from a woman on the street in Mumbai, but X-rays indicated he had consumed it in a bid to conceal his crime. Initially, an enema was administered to try to retrieve the jewellery. But when that failed, police turned to more ‘traditional’ methods and allowed nature to take its course…

Eventually the chain was found. We made him wash and disinfect it.
