Tourist posing for ‘flying’ picture tumbles 100m to his death at Machu Picchu

A tourist has died after falling into a ravine while posing for a picture at Machu Picchu in Peru. Oliver Park, 51, tumbled 100m (300ft) down a ravine after losing his footing while posing at the Unesco world heritage site. He was said to have been posing as if he was in flight when he slipped. The German ignored warnings as he went into a restricted area close to the edge of the ravine. His body was recovered the following day and taken to a morgue in the city of Cusco. Millions of tourists from all over the world visit the 550-year old citadel, which was built by the Inca civilisation, every year.
