Usain Bolt stormed to a third world championship sprint double when he trounced double drug cheat Justin Gatlin in the 200m on Thursday. The Jamaican clocked the fastest time in the year to claim the gold, well ahead of his widely reviled American rival. The race was a re-run of the 100m final, which was touted as a battle for the soul of the sport, with most commentators and neutrals cheering for the clean-cut Bolt, 29. He was again the underdog as Gatlin, 33, had set the world’s fastest times so far this year. But the finish was far less tight than the 100m, giving Bolt the chance to celebrate even before he crossed the line. Afterwards, Bolt said: “I’m happy to be a 10-time World Championships gold medallist, especially when people have been saying I would lose. For me I knew I had the utmost confidence. As long as my coach is confident I’m super confident. There was never a doubt that I would win this one. I’m number one.”
He is the best in the world and he does not have any rivals. We have to give him a lot of credit for running in the 100m and 200m - this is the most he has been challenged.
