Video: Rugby player’s arm snaps during live wrestle on TV

An Australian rugby league player has broken his arm live on TV in front of a shocked studio audience. Former NRL player Ben Ross’ right arm snapped a few seconds into an arm wrestle with another retired player, Wendell Sailor. The audience on The Footy Show looked shocked as a presenter called for an ambulance for the star, who won the NRL Championship with the Penrith Panthers. The Nine Network, which broadcasts the show, cut to adverts while Ross received treatment.

Thanks for everyone’s messages of concern and also wishes. Will know full extent of the break etc soon.

The 35-year-old was taken by ambulance to a Sydney hospital where it was confirmed he had broken the humerus in his right arm, reports said. Sailor tweeted afterwards: “Just like to send some love/well wishes out to @benross23 & his family after the accident on the @NRLFootyShow - sorry Big Ben feel so bad." Ross replied: "Wasn’t anyone’s fault mate. @NRLFootyShow were amazing with their help and care last night.”
