We’re on a break: Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney call off their engagement

It’s official… Lady Gaga and her fiance, actor Taylor Kinney, are on a break. The Poker Face singer confirmed their five-year, on-off relationship was now off with an Instagram post early Wednesday morning. “Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break,” she posted along with a photo of the couple walking arm in arm. “We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”

The pair dated for four years before Kinney proposed on Valentine’s Day 2015. “He gave me his heart on Valentine’s Day, and I said YES!” the singer captioned the photo of her heart-shaped engagement ring. But rumours began swirling on Tuesday that it was finally over before the couple confirmed it was all over. Friends blamed the distance between them, with Lady Gaga, 30, owning a home in Malibu, while Chicago Fire star Kinney, 35, lived in Chicago. “They had a good life and a lot in common, but were ultimately too different. I know he was always in Chicago and she went there all the time, but really had to be in L.A. or on tour and it was hard for them to make their schedules work,” a source said. “Distance was definitely a big, big issue.“
