#Whatcolouristhisdress? The internet goes wild over curious dress

On Friday, the internet forgot about the Llamas and focused on the world’s next greatest mystery. What color is this dress? This dress that might be white and gold or black and blue is currently going massively viral thanks to a Tumblr post that asked readers to identify what colour it is. Different people apparently perceive the dress differently. According to Google, the company’s image search engine uses “computer vision technology” to create a “mathematical model” of the picture’s most distinctive properties. The image spread like wildfire and, from Facebook to Twitter to media sites, everyone is mystified. A Buzzfeed survey says 74 per cent say white and gold, while the other 26 per cent saw blue and black.

I don’t understand this odd dress debate and I feel like it’s a trick somehow. I’m confused and scared.

There has yet to be a definitive answer as to what color combination it really is but there are some theories to explain the dispute. If a photo is taken in poor lighting it can certainly appear differently in a photo than it does in real life. According to Adobe, the dress is blue and proved it was by using the software’s colour tool. And YouTube celebrity Brad The Lad Long was apparently pranking the Internet with an elaborate experiment. He says that the dress is white and gold (phew, we agree) and the fact that some are seeing it as black and blue is because science has proven that when there is a big event in one’s life that is having a negative impact then sighting of colors can vary.
