White powder found in threatening letter sent to Donald Trump’s son

A threatening letter containing an unidentified powder was sent to the home of the son of Republican front runner Donald Trump. The letter, addressed to Eric Trump at his Manhattan residence at Central Park South, was opened by his wife Lara Yunaska. It contained a white powder and warned that if Mr Trump did not withdraw from the Republican presidential nomination contest harm would befall his five children. Police are examining the letter and its contents, which they do not believe was dangerous.

Mr Trump, the younger of the billionaire tycoon’s two sons, has been a regular feature on the campaign trail with his father. He is the executive vice-president of development and acquisitions at the Trump Organization. The package was sent from Massachusetts. Preliminary testing on the substance revealed it did not appear to be hazardous, but it has been sent to a laboratory for a full analysis.
