WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange hacks the fashion world

Julian Assange, who’s been living in political asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for the past two years, is planning a licensed fashion line, initially to be sold in India. The Australian founder of WikiLeaks, who is currently avoiding extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning over claims of sex offenses, wants his organization to become an official symbol of rebellion. That, and he hopes the merchandise will help make some money for the group, which operates solely on donations.

India is one of the countries where awareness about WikiLeaks is the highest and Julian is excited about the proposition.

India has a population of over 1.2 billion people which could translate into a lot of merchandise sales. WikiLeaks already sells some goods on its website, including T-shirts with the slogans “Hackers of the world unite!” and “Courage is Contagious.” The entire collection will include “high-end fashion apparel, accessories, household goods, paper goods, that kind of stuff,” Olafur Vignir Sigurvinsson, an Iceland-based WikiLeaks rep, told the Times of India.
