It could be a scene straight out of the movie Jumanji. A householder stepped out to get her mail only to find a monkey sitting on top of the mailbox, eating her letters. Naturally, she called the cops who are well used to dealing with all sorts of monkey business. The pet monkey, a pig-tailed macaque called Zeek, is well known in the town of Sanford, Florida and police were able to keep him calm until his owner arrived.
When we arrived to help, the monkey - later identified at Zeek, decided to pull off molding from one of our patrol cars. We were able to distract Zeek with a bottle of water until his owner came and retrieved him.

Police also shared video showing Zeek monkeying around with a road sign and pulling the moulding off the roof of a patrol car. "Zeek had a little fun with our patrol car,“ Sanford police posted on Facebook. Public Information Officer Shannon Cordingly told CBS News that officers are typically ready for anything but Monday’s call was a little "out of the ordinary”.
It’s nice to be able to respond to something of this nature - a little more light-hearted and have a happy ending.
