At least 2 dead, 5 missing as avalanche sweeps away children in French Alps

Two teenage children have died and several others have been badly injured after a group of school pupils skiing in the French Alps was hit by an avalanche. Four children were seriously injured after suffering cardiac arrest, while an adult, thought to be their teacher, was found unconscious. Five other youngsters were still missing following the avalanche around 4pm (local time) on Mont De Lans, in the Les Deux Alpes region. Two police helicopters and an emergency rescue helicopter are on the scene. Four people in the group were found by a ski patrol. The injured were taken to a hospital in Grenoble. BFMTV said the group was from Lyon.
